Engagement

Internal control assessment

A focused review of selected control cycles — cash, inventory, purchases, or payroll — with walkthroughs, sample tests of approvals, and a findings letter naming process owners.

When boards ask for this

Controllers call us when a segregation gap appears after staff turnover, when a bank asks about cash handling, or when warehouse access logs no longer match who can adjust stock quantities.

What we examine

We walk selected cycles end to end: who opens the mail and posts receipts, who approves purchase orders versus who receives goods, who can edit payroll master files. Sample tests check whether the documented approval actually occurred on the voucher.

Deliverable

A findings letter that names the control weakness, the compensating control if any, and a practical remedy. This engagement does not, by itself, produce a statutory auditor’s opinion on the financial statements — that remains a separate statutory audit.
